The nose is very backward at first, but with aeration develops a complex bouquet of blackberry, tar, plum and wild hedgerow. The palate is full-bodied, complex, very masculine and unyielding at the moment but there is undoubtedly great fruit concentration underneath. Takes some coaxing but there is good potential. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020'

Domaine La Suffrene is a family estate that has been passed through the family for generations. A 50-hectare domaine spread across varying soils of sand, limestone, chalk and clay. Grapes harvested fromthe domaine were destined for the local co-op before Cedric Gravier, under the assistance of the grandfather, took control and began estate bottling. Cedric has built a new state of the art winery utilising stainless steel fermenters and large oak foudres.
