The 2013 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno is a big, powerful wine with huge tannins, broad shoulders and tons of overall intensity. Bold, dark flavors laced with expressive, balsamic overtones are some of the signatures. As always, the strapping, full-bodied San Lorenzo needs time to shed some of its youthful tannin, but it is impressive just the same. Moreover, San Lorenzo is one of the rare Verduno crus that emphasizes power over finesse, in the way one might say the same about Bonnes Mares in Chambolle-Musigny, for example.

San Lorenzo is a cru in Verduno. The vineyard faces south, is situated at an altitude of 250 meters with vines of 20 years of age. From the small important single vineyard San Lorenzo in Verduno town comes a complex balanced Barolo distinctively characterized by the flowery notes of Nebbiolo grapes. In the mouth it is elegant and well-balanced with sweet polished tannins.

The Fratelli Allessandria winery, located in the heart of the Piemont region, was founded in the beginning of the 19th Century. The estate now stretches over 12 hectares over some of the best crus in Verduno and Monforte.Gramolere is a cru in Monforte d'Alba located between Gavarini and Bussia. This 40 year old  vineyard faces south at an altitude of 400 metres. Big structure and big character are the features of Monforte.
