What the Critics say
(not yet fined; the soil here features a meter of calcaire eboulis over blue clay): Medium yellow with a green tinge. Knockout creamy aromas of tangy orange zest, ripe pineapple and chlorophyll, plus a suggestion of coffee. Thick and utterly seamless, with racy acidity and uncanny lift contributing to an impression of finesse. Remarkably light on its feet for a wine with such bulletproof fruit. This is almost painful on the extremely long, rising finish, which features building notes of spices, licorice and crushed stone. Obviously a wine from a great terroir. (Nov17)
Great value can still be found in Burgundy! Saumaize-Michelin is a 9.5 ha estate located in Vergisson. They switched to Biodynamics back in 2005 and place great importance in the maintenance of the vineyards bacterial life and the management of flora and micro flora diversity. The estate sits upon a diverse mosaic soil and rocks which winemaker Roger Saumaize expresses through the different bottlings.
