Always the premier cru with the highest acidity and lowest pH in the Moreau cellar, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers only finished fermenting in June 2018, so it was a little less put together aromatically, unfurling with coaxing to offer up notes of green orchard fruit, rock salt and waxy lemon rind. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, searingly intense and electric, with a lovely line and length. The Vergers has been a highlight of the range for the last few vintages, and that run of success continues in 2017.
