What the Critics say
The 2013 Barbaresco is gorgeous. Fresh, vibrant and nuanced, the Barbaresco captures all the pedigree and class of the year. The flavors are bright and beautifully delineated throughout. Medium in body, with notable depth and class to burn, the 2013 is superb today. The translucency and expressiveness of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Even so, the 2013 is not an obvious wine, rather it is a Barbaresco built on finesse and balance. Fruit sources are Starderi, Albano, Gallina and Albesani. Don't miss it.
The Vacca family has been living and working the vines at Cantina del Pino, one of the oldest estates in Barbaresco, since the 1920s when Giuseppe Vacca, bought the property from his friend, the legendary agronomist and director of the Royal Enological School in Alba, Domizio Cavazza.
The family's vineyards are concentrated around the Ovello hill. The site is known for its combination of cooler microclimate and unique soils blending limestone with sandy veins and a high calcium content, the perfect conditions for an elegant, age-worthy Barbaresco.
