Starting off the retrospective of the Porte du Ciel and Clos du Truffiers, the 2011 Coteaux du Languedoc la Porte du Ciel is a sexy, full-bodied effort that’s yet to develop the complexity present in older vintages. Black raspberry, licorice, classy oak and a kiss of olive all emerge from this seamless, elegant red that will be hard to keep your hands off of over the coming decade. It should evolve similar to, if not a touch quicker than, the 2009. Drink: 2015-2026 (May16)

Intense ruby red robe. The nose associates aromas of kirsch, mocha cocoa, soft spices. On the palate, this wine is rich, heavy with silky tannins. Its notes of ripe fruit and the roasted coffee bean finish give a glimpse of the great ageing potential of this wine, elegant and racy.
