What the Critics say
'Possessing a slightly modern sheen, the stunning 2012 Côte Rôtie Les Elotins is 100% Syrah, from schist soils, that spent 26 months in 1- to 2-year-old barrels. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and voluptuously textured, it thrills with its black and blue fruits, violets, sweet oak and spice-like aromas and flavors. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more. Drink: 2014-2024' (Dec14)

Christophe Billon has been tending the vines of Cote Rotie for years. His career really began after taking over his fathers modest estate of .017 ha on Cote Rozier. Whilst working as a viticulturist for the Guigals (and also selling the bulk of his grapes to the family) he has built the domaine holdings up to 3.5 ha in Cote Rotie and 1.5 ha of Vdp. Most Cote vines, planted on the schist soils are around 30 years of age with some going back to the original plantings of 1942.
