Made by the powerhouse winemaking team of Timo Mayer and Andrew Marks, this is seriously good Pinot. With most vines over 20 years of age, the wines from Gembrook are kicking into overdrive with lovely depth and length.
The 2015 vintage in the Yarra just gives that little something extra. Or oftentimes anyway. If Gembrook Hill rings your bells when it comes to pinot noir, then this release is an essential purchase. It is also the perfect place to start with this wonderful estate. It is everything you hope for in a Gembrook pinot: tight, sparked with spice, light-in-colour-but-impactful, drastically long through the finish. Anise, mineral, gun smoke and peppercorn flavours all make appearances. Cranberried, red cherried fruit makes the play. There’s a lot going on now, and much to enjoy, but its best days lay well and truly ahead.
