It’s an interesting release. For starters, it’s beautiful. And complex. And undergrowth-y. And just so quintessentially pinot noir. If you like the Gembrook Hill style then you will love this, no doubt about it. It’s firm, tight, cooled by acidity, smoke-infused and herbal. There’s a character like roasted, sweet-spiced meats too. Gembrook Hill PN to a tee, you’d have to say. The interesting part is that the tannin is slightly firmer than usual, or gives that impression anyway, so that the flow through the finish is made to cool its heels. I wondered at first whether this had an impact on the wine’s quality but after sitting with it for a couple of hours I concluded that it absolutely did not. It’s another beauty.
