Medium to full straw-yellow colour with some oiliness of texture and a classic varietal viognier bouquet of spiced honey and apricot. The palate is rich and intense, rounded and supple, generous as well as soft and easy on the tongue. Very good concentration. It has serious flavour depth without heaviness, excessive grip or alcohol heat. (Hand-picked, skin macerated, wild fermented and natural malolactic in 500-litre puncheons, kept on fine lees for 18 months, no fining or cold stabilisation, lightly filtered, minimal SO2) Drink: 2020–2025.

Viognier is a fickly grape variety with unpredictable yields and should be picked only when fully ripe (Physiological ripeness). When picked too early, the grapes fail to develop the full extent of its stunning aromas. When picked too late or in too hot climates, the grape produces wine that is oily and lacks perfume. Planted on sandy soils, Viognier ripens to perfection with a deep yellow colour to produce wine with a strong perfume that are high in alcohol. These 20 year old vines and very low yield made for healthy luscious grapes.
