What the Critics say
(from 50-to-60-year-old vines in Chenevery, Clos Solon and Les Porroux): Bright dark red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, minerals and spices. Juicy and brisk, still showing a touch of apple a few weeks after the end of the malolactic fermentation. Very dark flavors of black cherry, spices and menthol are nicely framed by ripe tannins. This wine was vinified with 15% whole clusters, according to Laurent, who noted that the Ligniers kept 15% to 20% whole clusters for their crus in 2014. (Jan16)

Father and son Hubert and Laurent Lignier manage this 9-hectare estate in Morey-Saint-Denis. They practice organic practices to create a perfect balance for the vine’s growth. Their wines are fresh, fine and elegant Burgundies thanks to the very little intervention in the cellar.
