What the Critics say
‘The 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisots was touched by the frost, so there only one and a half barrels instead of the usual six (the vines are in their third year of conversion to biodynamics). It has a tightly wound, earthy, rather introspective bouquet with touches of truffle and woodland scents emanating partly from the 25% whole bunch fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, brimming over with vibrant red berry fruit laced with blood orange and a cohesive vibrant finish. This is a deeply impressive follow-up to the impressive 2015. Drink 2021-2035 ’
The Nuits-St-Georges Poisets was purchased by a consortium of five friends of Laurent Lignier in February 2010. What attracted them is a plot of vines planted just after the war that yield small, often millerande berries.
Father and son Hubert and Laurent Lignier manage this 9-hectare estate in Morey-Saint-Denis. They practice organic practices to create a perfect balance for the vine’s growth. Their wines are fresh, fine and elegant Burgundies thanks to the very little intervention in the cellar.
