Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2015
The Domaine Pierre Usseglio is now run by Pierre’s two sons Jean-Pierre and Thierry. Half of the vines on the estates are more than 60 years old and the remaining half are around 30 years old. The Réserve Des Deux Frères and Cuvée de Mon Aieul Châteauneuf-du-Pape are produced from some of the oldest vines of the region creating amazing wines.
‘One of the top estates in Chateauneuf-du-Pape is that of the two brothers Thierry and JeanPierre Usseglio.’ Robert Parker

'The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is mostly Grenache blended with 10% Syrah and 5% each of Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It’s mostly (not completely) destemmed and aged 80% in concrete and 20% in older barrels. It’s a terrific, full-bodied beauty that has ripe, sweet tannin, a great mid-palate and hedonistic notes of roasted herbs, black raspberries, chocolate and incense. It’s a no-brainer case purchase.'
