Established in 1994, but with estate Riesling vineyards planted in 1981, Framingham is a boutique wine company with its own winery, offering a range of expressive and individual Marlborough wines made in limited quantities. Four diverse styles of Riesling from the old vines show off the estate’s stony terroir in a distinctly Germanic fashion, whist Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer bring to mind the styles of Alsace.
A New Zealand spin on the German off-dry style, with rich fruit and juicy acidity. Complex varietal characters of lemon citrus, mandarin and stone fruit with a long, mineral finish. Harmless crystals may form in the bottle. Made with certified organic grapes from the estate vineyard.
'If you’re into riesling, and not into Framingham, you should be. Simple equation. Master at work. Brilliant vineyards. Delicious, amazing wines. Enough said. One of those wines you can’t help but swallow even if it’s morning, you’ve promised yourself an alcohol free day and you’re on a proper tasting mission. It’s light, delicate, imbued with pretty fragrance and finds a sublime balance of juicy fruit character, trimming acidity and gentle sweetness. So long across the palate, refreshing, taut, and yet playful in its jostle of sweetness and dryness. Utterly wonderful.'
