Bright red with a pale rim. Knockout aromas and flavors of spicy red cherry, licorice, cedar and aromatic herbs. Clean, ripe and round, with saline nuances lingering nicely on the smooth but very lively finish. A classic Brunello from Voliero. Drink: 2024-2035 (Apr18)

Voliero is another estate from Andrea Cortonesi, this time from the cooler northern slopes of Montalcino. The wines from Volerio are more refined and eleant, sometimes almost Burgundian in their silken texture. He delivers a beautiful, almost Burgundian, take on Brunello that gains weight and power with air under this Voliero label. A Stunning wine, but very limited.
