What the Critics say
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino comes from a warmer sub zone within the greater Montalcino appellation. You get ripe fruit that is delivered in an immediate and forthright manner. Dark cherry and blackberry meld into toasted almond and red rose. This is a great value wine that leaves its mark thanks to its genuine simplicity and bright fruitiness. Drink: 2018-2021 (Mar18)

Voliero is another estate from Andrea Cortonesi, this time from the cooler northern slopes of Montalcino. The wines from Volerio are more refined and eleant, sometimes almost Burgundian in their silken texture.
The Rosso is 100% Sangiovese from 15-25 year old vines grown in clay soils. Cold maceration with the skins at 10-12 degrees Celsius (the number of days depends on the characteristics of the grapes). Fermentation in steel with temperature control for 18/20 days.
