What the Critics say
(raised in one- and two-year-old barriques): Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched aromas of dark berry liqueur, licorice, violet and peppery spices. A smoky mineral nuance adds vibrancy and lift to the plush blackberry and cassis flavors, which become spicier with air. Quite lively for its heft, finishing on a smoky bacon note, with strong thrust and smooth, slow-building tannins. Drink: 2017-2026 (Feb15)

The “L’Amarybelle” is sourced from older vines, a mix of vines aged between 20 and 40 years from hillside vineyards set on terraces. The density of plantation is between 8,000 and 10,000 vines per hectare. It is a very stylish, almost flashy version of St Joseph that is just entering its drinking window.
