Château de Roquefort 'Corail' Côtes de Provence Rosé 2021
$33.00
Description
One of the best rosés in Provence! The fresh terroirs facing the Massif de la Sainte Baume give a wine of great freshness and balance in the mouth. The wine has a luminous colour, a light rosé with salmon reflections. The nose, pleasant and delicate, offers a beautiful aromatic expression of red fruits, citrus fruits and peach. The palate is fresh and greedy, with aromas of citrus and red berries very pleasant with a beautiful persistence. Pale salmon coloured, delightfully pretty nose of strawberries, raspberries and an underlying flinty minerality. Its lively, fresh acidity and clean finish makes this an ideal match for seafood. This coral cuvée is a judicious blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Vermentino and Clairette on clay-limestone scree soil, pebbly. Northwest, West exposure. This wine was produced through direct pressing, destemmed. Certain varieties went through a cold maceration before being pressed. Cold clarification and natural fermentation. Gravitational work in the cellar as often as possible.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKER
The flamboyant and eccentric Raimond de Villeneuve has propelled this 25 hectares estate to the very top echelon of Provençal wine domaines. Benefiting from an altitude of up to 390m and old vines averaging more than 35 years, with many well over 40 years of age, Raimond produces very fresh and precise wines with a real sense of personality and unique style. The terrain includes hillsides and plateaus, forming part of the Massif Sainte Baume, which rises up to over 1,000m. The proximity to the sea ensures a fine microclimate, protecting the vines from hail and excessive humidity. A follower of biodynamic methods for many years, he captures all the sun and scents of Provence, whilst still managing to achieve elegance and subtlety.
