    Description

Château La Caussade, quoted among the oldest and most famous vintages (Gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of Bordeaux in 1895 and Paris in 1900), it was considered at the beginning of the century as a First Cru Classé by the Wine Merchant in Bordeaux. Château La Caussade covering 6 AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée = controlled designation of origin) : Bordeaux Rouge, Rosé & Sec Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Red Cadillac (sweet wine) Sainte Croix du Mont (sweet wine) These “appellations” benefit from different types of soils, and above all, a very good exposure of the vines. The choice, an important density (vines/ hectare) and the best grape varieties participate in the quality of the wines.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Chateau La Caussade

A family property on a human scale. Family of independant winegrowers for several generations. Currently 3 generations work together. Our vines are located on extraordinary terroirs benefiting from the superb exposure and planted on two different types of soil: Clay & limestone and Sandy loam. The particularity of the terroir of Sainte Croix du Mont is unique in the world with its fossilized oyster bed dating back to the Tertiary era (22 million years ago). Thus the roots draw their nourishment directly from this thin soil, which requires suffering and effort from the vine, to create rare aromas. Each of the appellations benefits from a very particular terroir, but above all from a very beautiful exposure of its vines. The choice of a high density (vines/hectare) and of the most adequate grape varieties (and rootstocks) to favor low yields, contributes to the quality of our wines. We are certified HVE level 3 since the 2017 vintage. We are sensitive to the respect of the environment and wish to contribute at our level to the efforts for its protection.
