92+ Points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate 2022: The 2021 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Kabinett opens with clear, pure, precise and intense fruit that is delicate rather than showing off and intertwined with fine slate aromas. Lush and savory on the palate, this is a crystalline, saline and fruity, pretty long and intense Doctor with an almost dry-tasting finish (and if not now, then in 15 years). The 2021 is too young for early consumption, but it's highly elegant, finessed and very promising for the future. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.

The Thanisch family has cultivated wine continuously since the year 1636 and can look back on a history covering more than 375 years. The estate has been run as a family business for 11th generation, of which the last four generations were women. The boutique estate is 7 ha (16 acres) in size, including the most famous vineyard in Germany, the Berncasteler Doctor and the top vineyards Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler Lay and Bernkasteler Graben. All of the vineyards are planted with 100% Riesling vines, most of which are mature and on original rootstocks.

The 2021 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Kabinett opens with clear, pure, precise and intense fruit that is delicate rather than showing off and intertwined with fine slate aromas. Lush and savory on the palate, this is a crystalline, saline and fruity, pretty long and intense Doctor with an almost dry-tasting finish (and if not now, then in 15 years).
