James Suckling 93/100 "A fruity and fresh white with a creamy texture and plenty of mango and cooked-apple aromas and flavors. Framed with nice phenolics and balanced acidity. Bitter lemon. From organically grown grapes. Drink now."

The Real Review 93/100 "Mid-gold. Cinnamon oak on the nose, reticent and restrained. With coaxing, it yields honeyed citrus, papaya aromas, layers of deep spicy complexity and an undertow of minerality. The palate is moderately oaky and silky, balancing the ripe, primary fruit with a austere mineral note and smoky woodiness which follows through to the dry finish with fair length. The balance is well-managed and delivers elegance despite the barrel influence."

From the heart of Marlborough but a world apart. Handcrafted in tiny quantities for an incomparable artisan Sauvignon/Semillon 'sur lie'. Untamed, with long skin contact for complexity and texture, 'wild' barrel fermentation without any additions and 20 months on the fine lees for its famous silkiness. Dry and explosively rich, the pinnacle of a stately Sauvignon Blanc.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Hans Herzog

Nestled in the heart of Marlborough’s famous wine region resides one of New Zealand’s iconic family owned wine estates, where the entire process from vine to wine takes place organically, onsite. This is Hans Herzog. As a varietal specialist, Hans is one of the country’s most respected winemakers with over 40 vintages of winegrowing under his belt. Unfettered by commercial considerations Hans adopts an experimentalist stance, producing highly acclaimed, age worthy wines. True to the adage: quality over quantity. With meticulous attention to detail, Hans’ famed wines have stolen hearts all over the world and with an eclectic array of 29 different grape varieties there is something for everyone. From classic grape varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir to rarities including Viognier, Arneis, Gruner Veltliner, Nebbiolo, Zweigelt, Tempranillo and more. The estate breathes the soul of Hans and Therese Herzog – the very passionate, hardworking and hands-on owners who embrace a holistic approach. They love to share the fruit of their labour with visitors and only ever see themselves as stewards of this very special place they call home.
