ABOUT MALENCHINI WINE ESTATE
Since 1830 the Malenchini family has called the beautiful Villa Medicea di Lilliano home. About 100 years have passed since the Malenchini started their historic journey as wine producers on this prosperous estate. Today the Estate is in its eighth generation and Diletta Malenchini has been directly involved in its management for more than twenty years. Diletta’s passion for wine and respect for the land have created a bond that is constantly renewed, united by history and culture and without ever losing its traditional values. This virtuous philosophy is upheld today by the company which follows the principles of organic farming, respecting biodiversity and nature. The vineyards extend for 44.5 acres, using organic practices and planted with native vines such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Pugnitello and Malvasia and international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. The density of plantation ranges from 5,000 to 6,500 plants per 2.5 acres, trained with guyot and spurred cordon systems. Located in the heart of the ‘Chianti Colli Fiorentini’, the estate is run by Diletta Malenchini together with agronomist andoenologist Stefano Porcinai. Of the 70 hectares of property that surround the Villa Medicea di Lilliano, 17 hectares are cultivated with vineyards and 42 with olive trees. The estate is managed with high respect for the environment, by applying methods of ‘reduction’ of treatments and fertilizers.
