Spring Seed 'Sweet Pea' McLaren Vale Organic Moscato 2024
$21.00
Description
Sweet Pea is so pretty (floral) on the nose, and savoury on the finish, with that sweet bit in the middle. It is versatile, too; a wine to go with brunch (smoked salmon and scrambled eggs), a cocktail base (mix with gin, soda, lime, ice and mint) or good with a strawberry based dessert. You try! The Sweet Pea is made using Muscat a Petit Grains, which is common throughout central and Eastern Europe. It is a red grape, although it is used predominantly to make either sweet or dry white wines. It is used to make an ever so slightly pink and 'frizzante' Moscato wine. The grapes are allowed to spend a small amount of time 'on skins' so we get the lovely pink colour. It is then made like a white wine, pressed off skins and fermented. The wine is chilled to stop fermented and bottled with a little bit of fizz. This Moscato has a gorgeous grapey nose of Turkish Delight, a hint of cinnamon and a little bubble gum. Of course 'Sweet Pea' is sweet (because of the residual sugar that remains after stopping the fermentation) but it finishes with a wonderful savoury character.
ABOUT SPRING SEED - CERTIFIED A-GRADE ORGANIC WINES
Spring Seed Wines are made from grapes lovingly grown in the Bosworth family’s organic vineyards, located in the premium wine region of McLaren Vale, South Australia. The vineyards were established in the early 1970s by Peter and Anthea Bosworth, and are now owned and run by their son Joch (and partner Louise Hemsley-Smith), who began the conversion to organic viticulture in 1995. The vines are fully certified ‘A’ grade organic by Australian Certified Organic (ACO P/L ), a process that takes four years and involves yearly audits and random sampling of produce. Joch Bosworth also makes Battle of Bosworth wines using grapes from our organically grown and certified vineyards. The Spring Seed Wine labels are unashamedly inspired by vintage flower seed packets created at the turn of the last century. The colour, clarity and beauty of the original seed packets are quite remarkable. We chose three different flower images to adorn each one of our McLaren Vale wines, simply because they are quite lovely. The Forget-me-not Semillon Sauvignon Blanc has the Pot Marigold (Calendula officinalis) Forget-me-not (Myosotis spp) and Sunflower (Helianthus annuus).
