Albert Mann

Domaine Albert Mann sits firmly in the top rank of Alsatian wine producers.

The Barthelmé brothers, viticulturist Maurice and winemaker Jacky were awarded Winemakers of the Year 2012, by Revue de Vin de France. They are also rated by Wine Advocate, Robert Parker in the top tier of Alsace producers. The quality of wines from here is always incredibly consistent, but at the same time has been on a constant upward curve; a fact that must be in part related to the estate’s certified organic and biodynamic viticulture. Brothers Jacky and Maurice Barthelme consistently produce wines of richness, concentration and intensity, while never losing sight of terroir. The estate is organically and biodynamically cultivated and Ecocert® certified.

The fruit of the union of two great winegrowing families: the Mann family, winegrowers since the beginning of the 17th century, and the Barthelmé family, the current owners, winegrowers since 1654. In the heart of Alsace, the estate thrives in Wettolsheim, ideally situated in a region with an ancient winegrowing tradition. Thanks to the union of two Alsatian winegrowing families, the Mann and the Barthelmé, the estate has been perpetuating its history for several decades. Since then, men and women from diverse backgrounds have contributed the stones that have consolidated our estate over the years.

Their aim is to produce wines in harmony with the land. It is the memory of the grape, capable of transmitting its taste. The cellar is a sacred place where the magic of a year's work comes to fruition. At present, the estate covers 25 hectares divided into a hundred or so small plots, which we work like a hundred or so small gardens. Throughout the winemaking process, finesse is the watchword. Our wines develop delicately in our winery down in the village.
