White Boar has a lovely, deep, dark scarlet colour. The nose is incredibly complex – the result of the grapes' concentration on the vine – black fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, underpinned by gorgeous leathery notes and a hint of black olive. A ripe, balanced wine, very much a product of its cane-cut, vine-dried environment. I say it every year, but this wine goes very well with a roaring fire and a bowl of osso bucco. Awards
Description
White Boar is the heroic Bosworth take on the rich Amarone style wines from Veneto in Italy. White Boar is 100% Shiraz (some years it is a Shiraz/ Cabernet blend) while Amarone is made using native varieties. Our grapes are cordon cut and vine dried, which concentrates both flavour and acidity. The result is a rich, soft, layered red wine with depth, concentration, power and flavour.
Inspired by the rich Amarone wines from the Veneto, we cane-cut our vines and then dry and concentrate Shiraz on the vine, as opposed to harvesting them and drying on racks. After about 8-10 days drying on the vine, we pick and crush and ferment them, before the wine is matured in big old oak barrels before bottling and further maturation.

Battle of Bosworth was established in 2001 by Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith on vineyards planted by Joch’s parents in the 1970’s. The wines take their name from the original Battle of Bosworth, fought on Bosworth Field, Leicestershire, England in 1485. Battle of Bosworth make wines with flavour, texture, purity and balance, that best express the unique characteristics of their McLaren Vale foothills site. Joch’s vision and commitment to organic viticulture has underpinned the success of the Bosworth Wines business, capitalising on the rising consumer interest in organics over the last two decades.
They also make the Spring Seed Wine Co range of wines, which as with the Bosworth wines, are made using organically grown grapes from our McLaren Vale vineyards. Joch likes to call it our parallel label.
We offer free shipping to most of Australia for all orders over $199 or $12 flat rate for orders under. Some regional areas may incur an extra shipping charge which is calculated at checkout based on your postcode.
