From the winemaker: “The 2020 Block 8 has its usual darker fruit profile but also red cherry fragrance. It has layers of aromas; ginger, earth and game, brown spice. The palate is creamy and fresh with a supple and smooth fruit and tannin flow. As is typical with this vineyard, it builds through the middle palate and fans out through the finish. It will continue to gain complexity and drink beautifully over the next ten years.”

"Extraordinary difference even to the eye, before one takes the first sniff. A much paler color. Pale red/ochre. You’d swear this was the elder of the two on sight. Much sappier on the nose, brambles. Gives the impression of whole bunch inclusion, though Dhillon assures me that there is zero – it is all the conditions provided by the vintage.
This was a very cool, damp year with a small crop. It was harvested three weeks later than in 2019. Dried vegetation, red fruits, cherries, dried herbs, and forest floor notes. A much more savory style. So different to the 2019. Silly tannins, very good length, and an appealing elegance and purity. Lingers beautifully, this has six to eight years to peak."

Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. Located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, Bindi is not just a boutique vineyard. It’s actually a 170-hectare (ha) property of which 7ha are planted to vines—just pinot noir and chardonnay. Most of it is bushland, a section is reserved for important indigenous grasslands such as kangaroo grass, and 15ha are dedicated to a managed plantation of eucalypts (sugar gums) for high-grade furniture timber.
Bindi Wines fall under that category of “wines I would rather keep than sell.” The chardonnays are extraordinarily fine, precise, intense and beautiful, while the pinot noirs are a sensational group. The quality is very even, the style of the wines stunningly elegant, seamless and charming, but also profound. Charming pinot noir of depth is not that easy to find.
