    Description

Very Limited. The 2022 Block 8 has an exotic array of aromas; raspberry, red cherry, herbs and spices and floral notes. The palate is creamy, chewy and vibrant. The tannins are velvety and build for a long finish. Five more years will see further complexity and flourish develop and it will remain delicious for at least five years beyond that.

98pts GOLD Halliday Wine Companion (of the '21) "Rarely does a new wine make my heart skip a beat. But if exquisite and exceptional, it happens. It did with Block 8, which I feel needs a more poignant name. Nonetheless, how best to describe this as it’s both Mona Lisa and The Starry Night, Bach and Miles Davis, yin and yang. Everything is in harmony. You don’t simply taste this, you feel this pinot noir. It speaks of its place and moves you as a result. At the most rudimentary level, it has a core of excellent fruit, all dark cherries, maraschino and spice with a little amaro lift, the oak a light flutter throughout. Fuller bodied and supple with stunning tannins all silky and ethereal with fine acidity. It lingers long. It’s thought-provoking. It’s extraordinary, more so, knowing the block was planted in 2016 but is high density (11,300 vines per ha, which equals 8,888 vines as it’s about three-quarters of a ha). Respect, Michael Dhillon.
Respect."

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Bindi Wines

By Michael Dhillon - Halliday’s Winemaker of the Year 2022

Magic in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria

Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. Located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, Bindi is not just a boutique vineyard. It’s actually a 170-hectare (ha) property of which 7ha are planted to vines—just pinot noir and chardonnay. Most of it is bushland, a section is reserved for important indigenous grasslands such as kangaroo grass, and 15ha are dedicated to a managed plantation of eucalypts (sugar gums) for high-grade furniture timber.

Bindi Wines fall under that category of “wines I would rather keep than sell.” The chardonnays are extraordinarily fine, precise, intense and beautiful, while the pinot noirs are a sensational group. The quality is very even, the style of the wines stunningly elegant, seamless and charming, but also profound. Charming pinot noir of depth is not that easy to find.
