A sense of purity, fresh fruit, gently sweet, a nibble of bright acidity and pleasing bitterness, cool flow, exceptional length and such a delightful, gentle flow of all this. It tastes refreshing, in a way, or gives off a sense of that feeling. Effortless and straight up delicious, with plenty of architecture, particularly in the sense of smooth rock and slate-like minerality embedded in the subtle fruit characters of the wine. This is pure class, pure feeling, wonderful drinking, sparks imagination and calls you back to the glass in pursuit of all these things. Or so I say. It’s a wine for lovers of fine things, no doubt, and delivers a top flight pinot experience."
Description
The Original Vineyard has over its history become know for its signature perfumed bouquet and silky, pure palate. This relatively quartz riddled, gently north sloping three acre vineyard produces very fine, spicy, fragrant wine that has high natural acidity and develops beautifully given 6-10 years careful cellaring. As it ages the depth of aroma increases in and the palate becomes increasingly harmonious and is characterized by a sweet fruited, textured flourish. In comparison to the Block Five this wine is more seductive and delicious in its youth whilst still significantly rewarding cellar time.
The wine spends 15-17 months in French barrels of which about 25% are new. The wine is never oak driven.

BINDI, 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, is not just a boutique vineyard. It’s actually a 170-hectare (ha) property of which 7ha are planted to vines—just pinot noir and chardonnay. Most of it is bushland, a section is reserved for important indigenous grasslands such as kangaroo grass, and 15ha are dedicated to a managed plantation of eucalypts (sugar gums) for high-grade furniture timber.
Bindi Wines fall under that category of “wines I would rather keep than sell.” The chardonnays are extraordinarily fine, precise, intense and beautiful, while the pinot noirs are a sensational group. The quality is very even, the style of the wines stunningly elegant, seamless and charming, but also profound. Charming pinot noir of depth is not that easy to find.
