This whole portfolio from Cantina del Pino is terrific, with top-notch expressions of Nebbiolo that are fine and fragile.

"This needs a few swirls of the glass to release subtle aromas of ripe berry, forest floor, culinary spice and new leather. The full-bodied palate features dried cherry, pomegranate, licorice and hazelnut alongside seasoned tannins. Drink 2023–2028." - Kerin O’Keefe, WineEnthusiast.com, 94 Points

"Underbrush, new leather and dark spice aromas mingle together in the glass along with a balsamic note of camphor, rose. Full-bodied and savory, the palate offers fruitcake, cherry marinated in spirits and licorice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins that leave a rather drying finish. Drink through 2030." - Kerin O’Keefe, WineEnthusiast.com, 94 Points

    What The Critics Say
The Cantina del Pino 2019 Barbaresco Gallina is also quite subtle and delicate. This wine plays to the smaller nuances of Nebbiolo with violet, iris, dusty limestone and wild currant. The tannins are silky, and the wine feels soft and satin-like to the palate. A precious few 2,000 bottles were created. Drink: 2024 - 2040.

    Cantina del Pino

The Vacca family has been living and working the vines at Cantina del Pino, one of the oldest estates in Barbaresco, since the 1920s when Giuseppe Vacca, bought the property from his friend, the legendary agronomist and director of the Royal Enological School in Alba, Domizio Cavazza.

The family's vineyards are concentrated around the Ovello hill. The site is known for its combination of cooler microclimate and unique soils blending limestone with sandy veins and a high calcium content, the perfect conditions for an elegant, age-worthy Barbaresco.
