"One of the many estates on the Pez plateau in Saint-Estèphe, this property is at the top of its game. Owned by the same proprietors as Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, the wine has structure, big tannins as well as dense black fruits. Drink from 2024."

    Description

Vintage 2016: The winter was mild and wet. Throughout the summer, which was dry from the 20th of June onwards, the clay-limestone subsoil played a strong moderating role.

Aromas of blackcurrant, Morello cherry and liquorice. The wine is rich and complex on the palate. Balance between concentration and harmony, power and refinement, classy and precise tannins.

    What The Critics Say
St.-Estèphe is supposed to be a robust and hard wine, but this is elegant and sophisticated with fine, cassis and lemon-peel aromas, polished tannins and a long, rather delicate finish. Drink or hold.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Chateau de Pez

Château de Pez, one of the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe with origins dating back to the 15th century, is renowned for producing structured, age-worthy Bordeaux that reflect the appellation’s powerful character. Owned by the Champagne house Louis Roederer since 1995, the property combines centuries-old tradition with meticulous modern winemaking. Its gravel-clay soils, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plantings, give wines noted for depth, dark fruit intensity, and firm yet refined tannins. Today, Château de Pez is celebrated as a benchmark Saint-Estèphe estate, offering exceptional value and classic Left Bank elegance.
