95 Points, Vinous.com "The 2019 Meyney has a divine bouquet, so pure and winsome with floral red berry scents, beautifully integrated new oak and superb precision. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy to the point where you can almost overlook the backbone of this Saint-Estèphe. It could have been blowsy, yet it retains superb balance and feels luxuriant and long on the finish. This is a stellar showing easily eclipsing its performances either in barrel or just after bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting." - By Neal Martin on January 2023

17.5/20 Points, JancisRobinson.com "57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot. 46.2 hl/ha. Harvested 24 September to 11 October. Deep crimson to the rim. Bright and fresh on the nose. Dark fruit with a minty note but still relatively closed. Hints at complexity. Smooth, suave texture, the tannins very fine. More freshness than 2018. Firm, long finish. Balanced. Promises well for the long term." James Lawther MW

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Chateau Meyney

Established in 1662 as a Cistercian monastery known as the Couvent des Feuillants or Prieuré des Couleys, Château Meyney is among the oldest estates in the Médoc region. The estate's origins trace back to the 13th century, with the Cistercian monks being among the first to plant vineyards in the area.

Château Meyney spans 51 hectares of vineyards situated on a gravel ridge with underlying blue clay, offering excellent drainage and ideal conditions for grape maturation . The estate's proximity to the Gironde Estuary provides a moderating influence on temperature extremes, contributing to the consistent ripening of grapes.

The vineyard is predominantly planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. Many of the vines are 35–40 years old, with some exceeding 60 years, and are managed using plot-by-plot techniques to ensure optimal ripeness.

Under the guidance of Technical Director Anne Le Naour, Château Meyney employs traditional winemaking methods combined with modern technologies. The estate practices hand harvesting, optical sorting, and gravity-flow systems to minimize mechanical intervention and preserve fruit integrity .
