Dawson James Island Belle Pinot Noir Tasmania 2023
$41.00
Description
The wine has vivid colour and lifted aromas of black cherries and savoury notes. The palate has a creamy texture combining ripe red fruit flavours with gentle tannins and soft, lingering natural acidity.
95pts Halliday WIne Companion (previous vintage): "Hand picked on 13 April, matured in predominantly used French oak. Deeply coloured, it has a highly expressive cherry cola bouquet morphing to a savoury spicy blend of red and black cherry fruit on the long finish, fine tannins an important characteristic."
Forty percent of whole bunches were retained for inclusion in fermentation in open fermenters prior to basket pressing and maturation of the wine in well-seasoned French oak barriques.
In keeping with the cool season and modest crop, Pinot noir grapes, MV6 and 115 clones, were fully mature and hand-picked on 13th April.
ABOUT DAWSON JAMES
"Wine that is made for love, not profit” - James Halliday Dawson James was born of a friendship and winemaking partnership between Peter Dawson and Tim James. With a collective experience of more than 80 vintages, the opportunity of making world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay drew them to Tasmania. The cool and dry climate, hungry soils and 30 + year-old vines grow grapes with great depth of flavour and intensity of character. Our winemaking philosophy is based on picking fruit with a natural balance of flavour and acidity. A very simple approach to winemaking allows fruit quality to shine through.
