    Description

Purus is a pure translation of a local clone into wine. The vines have been carefully managed to allow only dappled light into the fruiting zone, which promotes flavour development, low tannins and bright levels of natural acidity. The sustainably farmed vineyard is in the cool southern end of Margaret River. The tiny 100g Gin Gin clusters are hand harvested at first light to preserve freshness of fruit.

    What The Critics Say
"Light yellow colour with a bouquet of oatmeal, cream, hazelnuts and smoky toasty oak undercurrents. Intense, rich palate with delicacy as well as generosity; a more ample wine than the Floris and more complex, still subtle and refined, with terrific length and precision. (Karridale fruit, Dijon clones 76 and 95; pure yeast strain; no MLF; batonnage only in tank). Drink: Now-2034"

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Domaine Naturaliste

Domaine Naturaliste is now seen as one of the top wineries in Australia. This year has seen Bruce Dukes lift even further as he continues to collect gongs around the world. “Bruce Dukes is wholly talented, and while he makes high-quality acclaimed wines for his own estate – Domaine Naturaliste. His winemaking style is one of fresh, pure fruit over obvious or intrusive winemaking artifact, and the wines routinely possess a polish and eminent drinkability.” - Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate. The vineyard is located next to Margaret River and has a maritime climate, intermediate to that of Bordeaux and Napa Valley. The vine roots explore the ironstone rich gravelly soil, which sits above a highly permeable ironstone cap rock, resulting in a well drained and healthy soil. It is the intersection of soil, climate and vine which provides this extraordinary fruit. Each of their wines have a distinct story to tell and are considered by Halliday to be “Examples of deep-thinking, intelligent and experienced winemakers.
