    Description

A wine created by Giovanni Manetti, the man behind the famous Tuscan estate Fontodi. Lamole is a high altitude vineyard above the Panzano (620 metres above sea level) planted in the 1920's. This high altitude vineyard creates scented, elegant almost Pinot Noir like wines that spend time in larger oak as opposed to the smaller barriques used at Fontodi. Cuttings from this Lamole vineyard were used to propagate the clones used to replant the Fontodi vineyards.

    What The Critics Say
Such beautiful aromas of freshly cut orchids, dark plums and peaches. Medium-to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a bright, linear finish. A classic Chianti Classico from this area. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold 95 Points | James Suckling.com | Aug 2022 This is a distinctive and fun wine that cements Giovanni Manetti's growing fondness for the high-elevation Lamole area of the appellation that has always been regarded as somewhat detached or isolated from the rest of the appellation. In the face of climate change, the authenticity of Lamole, and its cooler growing conditions, are an important asset. Manetti tells me that 2018 was a good year, but it rained more and was generally harder to manage. The 2019 vintage is classic, with balanced results thanks to regular weather patterns. The organic 2019 Chianti Classico Filetta di Lamole speaks to a wine style that is winning over those who love elegant Sangiovese. The wine is punchy and bright with a pretty array of wild cherries, blue flowers and dusty mineral. Manetti says he remembers how those same fresh aromas filled the winery during fermentation. Fruit comes from a nine-hectare property at 600 meters in elevation owned by a cousin. But Fontodi also recently acquired more vineyards in Lamole to grow this program.Drink 2022 - 2028

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Fontodi

Fontodi has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968. The family has been associated for centuries with another activity typical of the Chianti region, the production of its famous “terrecotte” tiles. And it is in the name of this strong link with the territory and a great passion for quality that the estate has moved successfully towards an ever more attentive cultivation of the vineyards and a more profound knowledge of the potential of Sangiovese in the zone of Panzano. Fontodi is a certified organic estate which extends over 130 hectars of which about 70 are planted with vines. The type of agriculture practised is inspired by the principles of respect of nature and sustainability. Not only are no chemical products used but there is an effort to maximize the internal resources of the estate, thereby reducing the need for any external input. Respecting the environment means wines that are better, purer, and a truer expression of the grape and the territory. ?The process of vinification and ageing in wood takes place in the modern cellar, built on descending levels to take advantage of gravity, guaranteeing the most respect possible for the natural integrity of the grape, in order to exalt the character and elegance of the wines.
