“100% Grenache. Vines planted in 1937 and 1870. Shaded dark garnet. Intense, but fresh. Ridiculously cheap for such a monument! Such complexity. Sweet fruit corralled into a serious wine. VVGV. Drink 2024-2034” 17.5 POINTS, Jancis Robinson, 14 May 2025

    What The Critics Say
“This is a bomb of pleasure that thrusts itself in your direction. Take a seat, get comfortable and pour large. Another excellent Tim Smith Grenache awaits. The considered effort of Tim Smith to get the best from his fruit parcels is thrilling to enjoy. After many years of exploring the variety, he has come to treat Grenache with kid gloves and handles it like Pinot Noir. After all, Grenache is Barossa Pinot so you know it makes sense. A blend of two vineyards each boasting 85+ years of age, juicy raspberries and blueberries dance. So joyous and pretty, it sees old French oak and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of blueberries and pretty purple flowers sing. Graceful and delightful, soft spices curl around the mouth reaching long. The vibrance screams purity and class. Superbly done once more.” – Steve Leszczynski, QWine Reviews

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Tim Smith Wines

These days, Tim Smith Wines is one of Australia’s most awarded boutique wineries. Tim’s wines have collected medals all over Australia and around the world, and in 2019, he won the coveted Barons of the Barossa Winemaker of the Year award. It was a meaningful one for Tim, who feels deeply connected to the region. Tim’s wines include Barossa superstars Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro, as well as Viognier and Riesling from neighbouring Eden Valley. He sources grapes from some of the best vineyards in the Barossa, working closely with the families who tend them. “My approach to making great wine is to get good grape growers, because they do the hard work; they understand that stuff,” says Tim. “And then, in the winery, it’s kind of a hands-off approach. We don’t overwork the wines.
