Villa Raiano Falanghina IGT 2023
$38.00
Description
This is a fine expression of Falanghina and the volcanic soils it's grown in. A pretty white with substance. The stone fruit notes are balanced by a generous ripeness and perfectly poised acidity. Ample and generous impact; well-balanced hints of citrus, pineapple, white peach. Fresh and satisfying; excellent balance between acid and salty flavours with volume. Full and dry finish.
White wine produced only with Falanghina grape from vineyards located in the province of Benevento. Grape is harvested manually and transported to the cellar in small boxes to avoid crushing the berries. Grapes are subjected to a soft pressing of whole bunches to obtain the flower must. The vinification and aging on the fine lees for 4 months takes place entirely in steel vats. ''Falanghina is an indigenous varietal from Campania with lively acidity and intriguing floral and mineral flavours.'' - Eric Asimov, New York Times
ABOUT VILLA RAIANO
Villa Raiano is a family-owned vineyard at 400m near San Michelle di Serino. Falanghina is a local grape variety with citrus and white stone fruit aromas. Villa Raiano Falanghina has notes of mineral notes and honey on the crisp finish. The family-owned winery of Villa Raiano was established in 1996, in the village of Raiano, Campania. In 2009 a new winery was built - on top of a hill amongst vineyards and chestnut woods, overlooking the River Sabato near San Michele di Serino in the Southern Apennines. They are dedicated to producing a range of wines from local varieties Aglianico, Fiano and Greco - primarily sourced (80%) from 20 hectares of their own organically farmed vines, across three DOCGs. They also produce Falanghina from vineyards owned by local growers.
