Description
The Thanisch family's winemaking tradition in the Mosel Valley stretches back to 1636. The dry wines of a VDP.Grosse Lage are called VDP. Grosses Gewächs (or short GG). We produce two VDP.Grosses Gewächs, one from the Bernkasteler Graben and one from the Berncasteler Doctor. They are the flagships among the dry wines, with their complex structure, are lively with high minerality and have a balanced interplay of fruit and acidity.

Wwe. Dr H. Thanisch
Founded in 1650, Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch is one of the Mosel’s great historic estates, with more than 370 years of Riesling heritage. Today it is led by Sofia Thanisch and her daughter Christina, the 11th and 12th generations of the family. Their vineyards, including the celebrated Berncasteler Doctor, Lay, Graben and Badstube, are rooted in the weathered grey slate of Bernkastel. The estate is a VDP member and works exclusively with Riesling, making wines of finesse, mineral precision and extraordinary longevity, from delicate Kabinett to luscious Auslese.
