100% Roussanne white wine from the St-Joseph appellation of the northern Rhône valley. Produced by the renowned Yves Cuilleron from the single vineyard area, Digue, on a very steep south-facing slope in the commune of Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf, in the north of the St-Joseph appellation. The Marsanne grapes are organically farmed. Ageing on lees in a combination of 30hl oak casks and Burgundy barrels, wiA thout racking, for eight months.

Yves Cuilleron succeeded his uncle, Antoine, in 1987. This highly regarded domaine has been steadily expanding. With vineyard holdings of only 3.5 hectares when Yves Cuilleron assumed control, he is now pushing toward 100 hectares with vines in every Northern Rhône appellation, save for Hermitage. Cuilleron is not shy about using new oak, but the percentage has been throttled back over the last decade, which is a positive result. Cuilleron travels extensively to benchmark, and his wines are highly sought after worldwide.

Luscious, deliciously fruity and flattering. An agreeable nose of stone fruits and acacia honey notes. Fleshy and fruity on the palate. Nicely pitched between fresh and rounded. Fresh finish.

"The 2023 Saint-Joseph Blanc Lieu-Dit Digue is a varietal Roussanne that grows on the same name lieu-dit, a steep hillside facing south in the commune of Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf, located in the northern part of the appellation. Deep lemon in hue, the 2023 unzips with fragrant verbena tea, linden blossom, yellow apple, cedar and wet stone notes. Closing with stamina on the sapid finish, the 2023 is a tasty Roussanne from the Northern Rhône, matching the enticing 2022 rendition. Drink 2025-2026"

Cuilleron is not shy about using new oak, but the percentage has been throttled back over the last decade, which is a positive result. Cuilleron travels extensively, and his wines are now omnipresent worldwide. The entry-level Syrah bottlings deliver excellent value and are a great and readily available introduction to the house style, which favors generous fruit and relative accessibility. That said, recent vintages have become a bit more serious, showing more restraint and structure than in the past.
