This is a distinctive single-varietal Chenin Blanc from Domaine des Aubuisières, one of Vouvray’s benchmark estates. Following Bernard Fouquet’s retirement, Charles Lesaffre assumed control of the domaine and introduced new ideas, including the use of sandstone amphorae to enhance texture and terroir expression. Sourced from Vouvray’s classic clay-limestone soils, the wine showcases the precision and minerality of the appellation while adding a unique textural dimension through amphora ageing.
Description
The 2021 Charles Lesaffre 'Amphoréale' Vouvray is a dry, elegant Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley, crafted in amphorae for unique texture. It features aromas of quince, pear, and flinty minerality. The palate is characterized by high, vibrant acidity, green apple, and citrus flavors, often with subtle, complex notes of beeswax and almond.
