    From Single-variety 100% Grenache.

94 Points, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, May 2025

"The wine has a Mediterranean profile with plenty of aromatic herbs, decayed flowers and an earthy but subtle touch. The palate is medium-bodied, with a textured mouthfeel and slightly dusty tannins.

The 2022 Com Tu is a village red from La Figuera in Montsant, from a higher-altitude place with different soils, limestone and clay, produced with Garnacha from three plots. Forty percent of the wine fermented with semi-carbonic maceration and 60% with a long destemmed maceration, and it matured in old foudres and concrete for 18 months. This is the wine started by the youngest son, Anderson, now continued by his brothers, as he's moved to gastronomy and now looking into starting a wine project in Terra Alta. This has a very classical nose, with notes of smoked bacon that transported me to the Rhône. It comes from a vineyard that is similar to the ones used by Christian Barbier to make his Deunido, but this is extremely different, and he started working with cover crops. They used a new label this year. Christian told me it was inspired by the wines from Viña Tondonia (it also made me think of the old Masia Barril labels), showing the village (it's a village wine) and with a traditional feeling to it.

12,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024. Drink 2025-2035"

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Clos Mogador

Founded by René Barbier in 1979, Clos Mogador is one of the five famous wineries that reinvented Priorat in the 1990s. René Barbier Jr. now runs the daily operations, overseeing both oenology and viticulture. Possessing an excellent understanding of the extreme conditions in Priorat, Barbier Jr. focuses on Garnatxa and Cariñena, aiming to bring out the purest possible expression of the region and working to revive long-suffering vineyards, such as Manyetas, Almendros and the stunning Espectacle. Barbier doesn’t like fruitiness, equating it to “the ketchup of wine, ” but he produces vivid expressions of the regional terroir, imbued with the subtle, painstakingly polished textures that are his true love. A far cry from the concentrated styles of yesteryear, these wines have the strange magic one finds in Priorat: weightless concentration, complex, ripe expressions, freshness and a free-flowing spirit. As Barbier Jr. says, “In Priorat, we make wines of character. If you want elegance, go to Burgundy.”
