"They produced a village rosé, the 2022 Gratallops Vi de Villa Rosat, the second vintage of this pale rosé produced with a blend of Garnacha, Cariñena and white Macabeu. The aim is to produce a gastronomical rosé, with complexity, not fruit driven and with some aging potential. It's not a shy wine at 14% alcohol, and it has a powerful palate with good balance. It went through full malolactic and matured in a 2,500-liter oak foudre for 16 months without being racked.

Despite the pink color, the feeling is that it could be a white wine, especially the nose, which is full of aromatic herbs and flowers, hints of dry hay and straw and a spicy twist, with a notable absence of fruity aromas. It has a serious, medium-bodied and balanced palate, tasty, savory, almost salty, with a velvety texture. Curiously enough, the grapes come from the warmer vineyards they have, in Manyettes, a place where the grapes tend to be overripe. Christian insisted on harvesting the grapes when they are crunchy, ignoring the skins and focusing on the vitality of the grapes, when they have the energy for an elegant fermentation. In 2022, they harvested the grapes very early. 3,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024. Drink 2025-2029"

    Description

Nelin is the result of two parallel souls -the balance between the feminine and the masculine side in its youth culminating in the true expression of Priorat at its best.
A renowned Catalan journalist recently wrote: “Today, Catalunya is represented by some great chefs and by the wines of Priorat.
We were aware that it would be difficult to marry our rich, powerful red wines to some of the newer recipes so we hope that Nelin proves an ideal partner.
The Grenache is evocative of the parched hills on mineral slate where the spicy quince flavours are in evidence.
The Macabeu has adapted beautifully to our climate, planted close to small streams, which impart delicate orange flower aromas.
The Escanyavelles lends its solid structure to the wine and ensures a lengthy future to the wine due to its tannins and acidity. At the same time, this little stranger reminds us of the longstanding association of the Barbier family with France!

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Clos Mogador

Founded by René Barbier in 1979, Clos Mogador is one of the five famous wineries that reinvented Priorat in the 1990s. René Barbier Jr. now runs the daily operations, overseeing both oenology and viticulture. Possessing an excellent understanding of the extreme conditions in Priorat, Barbier Jr. focuses on Garnatxa and Cariñena, aiming to bring out the purest possible expression of the region and working to revive long-suffering vineyards, such as Manyetas, Almendros and the stunning Espectacle. Barbier doesn’t like fruitiness, equating it to “the ketchup of wine, ” but he produces vivid expressions of the regional terroir, imbued with the subtle, painstakingly polished textures that are his true love. A far cry from the concentrated styles of yesteryear, these wines have the strange magic one finds in Priorat: weightless concentration, complex, ripe expressions, freshness and a free-flowing spirit. As Barbier Jr. says, “In Priorat, we make wines of character. If you want elegance, go to Burgundy.”
