Description
A absolutely not-to-be-missed gem from a big name of the Rhône! This Syrah developed by Laurent and Dominique Courbis seduces by its power, its balance and the precision of its fruit. With its notes of small red fruits and plum and its dash of spice, it would be a great shame to go past this Saint-Joseph that proves concentrated and full-bodied on the palate. Elegant and complex, it already offers definite pleasure that time will make even better! Extra-good quality for the price for intense pleasure! In a word: an exceptional wine!
Tnose showes red fruits aromas with smocked smell and slightly spicy notes. The attack is fresh and round and this is a typical powerful and balanced Rhone Valley wine. Saint Joseph Red of Courbis vineyard is served at 16-17°c with blood sausage, beef brochettes.
The origins of the Courbis family estate date back to the 16th century. More recently, the brothers Dominique and Laurent Courbis succeeded their father, Maurice, in the early 1990s. Working from their gravity fed winery built into the slopes of St Joseph, the two are at the forefront of modern winemaking in the Northern Rhone. Grapes are hand harvested and 100 percent de-stemmed.The Syrahs are vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel. Timings vary across the range. Lighter red wines are matured in a mix of tank and used barriques while top Cornas and St Joseph see a mix of new and one year old oak.
