    Description

Vins Rijckaert Saint-Véran Vieilles Vignes is a white wine made from 100% old vine Chardonnay grapes. The Saint Véran appellation overlaps the Mâconnais and Beaujolais districts and was introduced as an appellation in 1971. The region forms a belt around the appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé and produces only white wines from the Chardonnay grape. Vins Rijckaert Saint Véran Vieilles Vignes is pale yellow gold in colour and displays subtle peach and pear fruit aromas with notes of honeysuckle, almond and honey. On the palate, this white wine is dry and well rounded, mineral and lively.  The structure is balanced and fresh.

    ABOUT DOMAINE RIJCKAERT

The Domain Rijckaert was created in 1998 by Jean Rijckaert, a passionate Belgian established as a wine producer in Burgundy since 1990. Nowadays, in addition to 4 ha in South Burgundy, the Domaine RIJCKAERT cultivates 5,5 ha of vineyards in the Jura where Jean felt in love of outstanding terroirs. Thus, there are two cellars: one at Davayé (South Burgundy, near Mâcon), one at Les Planches, near Arbois in the Jura. The Maison RIJCKAERT also purchases fine grapes from all Burgundy vineyards, vinificated with the same precision and the same savoir-faire as its own vineyards. In 2013, Jean decided to gradually pass the torch of his passion on to Florent Rouve and also pass down the “savoir-faire” that have made the reputation of his wines: restricted yields, manual harvesting, slow and moderate pressings, indigenous floras, long wine aging and, ...some precious secrets! A careful and natural winemaking, which aims to express the typicality of the grape and the specificity of the terroir where it comes from.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Rijckaert

Rijckaert Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes is a beautifully crafted white wine from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, showcasing the purity, finesse, and approachable charm of Chardonnay. Produced by the talented Jean Rijckaert, a winemaker with a deep respect for Burgundy’s terroir and traditions, this wine highlights the incredible quality that can be achieved from older vines (vieilles vignes) in the region’s limestone-rich soils.

The vineyards are planted with mature Chardonnay vines, many of which are over 50 years old, drawing deep into the clay-limestone soils of the Mâconnais. These older vines produce smaller yields of concentrated grapes, imparting depth, texture, and complexity to the final wine. The Mâconnais’ warm, sunny climate ensures ripeness, while the limestone terroir adds the hallmark minerality and freshness that define classic Burgundy.

Jean Rijckaert’s winemaking philosophy focuses on minimal intervention to preserve the natural character of the fruit and the vineyard. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and neutral French oak barrels. Aging on fine lees for several months enhances texture and balance while maintaining the wine’s crisp vibrancy.
