    Description

A graceful and expressive Meursault—this 2022 vintage captivates with its scented orchard fruit, citrus zest, light vanilla warmth, and flinty minerality. It balances rich, creamy depth with bright, refreshing acidity, culminating in a refined, lingering finish that speaks of its Côte-de-Beaune origins and artisanal élevage.

A blend from two classic Meursault plots—Les Grands Charrons and Les Narvaux—comprising 35-year-old vines. Hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed, followed by a 45-day cold fermentation (15–18 °C) in Burgundy barrels. It spends ~12 months in barrels (35% new) and an additional ~4 months in stainless steel, with minimal sulfur and a very gentle filtration. Carries a flinty, reductive note—a signature of the careful élevage and extended cellar time

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Louis Billard

Louis Billard grew up in La Rochepot, in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune near Meursault, where his family has been making wine for five generations. After spending much of his youth in their cellar, Louis decided to embark on a highly aspirational journey into winemaking.

He began locally with a stint at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti for two years between 2018 and 2019, and time spent at Georges Roumier during the harvest of 2020. Louis’ determination to learn and grow stretched beyond the Côte d’Or, leading him to South Africa at Newton Johnson Estate. Next, Louis landed in Australia working alongside Nick Farr at the globally recognized By Farr Estate. He felt that his understanding of the DNA of his native varieties had grown in a robust way and that he was ready to head back home.

Armed with a new appreciation of the effect of terroir on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Louis launched his own project. With a sharp focus on purity in his winemaking he is exploring both the terroir of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. He farms and manages a handful of celebrated appellations from bud break through harvest from Saint-Aubin up through Vosne-Romanée, all complimenting his precise winemaking style well

For the white wines, the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in barrels on fine lees, with an aim to find a balance between the textural potential and the freshness of Chardonnay. Regarding the red wines, Louis incorporates a large proportion of whole bunch, between 50-100%, to gain complexity, purity, and lift with his diverse range of reds across the Côte-d’Or.

With the release of his first vintage in 2022, he has already put together an impressive set of cuvées and his finesse as a winemaker shines through the whole portfolio top to bottom.
