94 Points, Halliday Wine Companion "Another tip-top Black Sands, easily the best to date for it has restraint yet flavour, although that seems to be the Patrick Sullivan way... The palate builds yet acidity reins this in beautifully. Highly gluggable yet classy at the same time." - Jane Faulkner
94 Points. Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate "The 2024 Black Sands Chardonnay borrows the richness and depth of the Bull Swamp and the detail and poise from the Ada River. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and powerful. A thundering Chardonnay here."
Patrick Sullivan’s Black Sands Chardonnay comes from an extraordinary patch of vineyard near Heywood in far western Victoria - planted back in 1990 by Alistair and Alice Taylor. The site is defined by its rare soil profile: black volcanic sand over pure white limestone, giving the wine a deep mineral edge and a sense of shape that’s hard to replicate.
