94 Points, Halliday Wine Companion "Made from fruit purchased from the Lusatia Park vineyard in Woori Yallock and barrel fermented in seasoned 300L hogsheads. A light, bright green gold. Pristine with aromas of lemon drops, pink grapefruit and orange blossom. This flows onto the restrained, linear and understated palate. Finishes gently chalky and with good length. Will be even better in six to 12 months as it fills out a little. Right now, I'm thinking this would work a treat with pan-fried whiting and the like."

The 2024 Timo Mayer Volcanic Chardonnay is not only a compelling stand-alone wine but also offers a New World Chardonnay interpretation of the purity and restraint that Chablis lovers cherish. Its structure, minerality, and vibrant acidity place it comfortably in the conversation, making it a delightful choice for anyone who values a crisp, terroir-expressive Chardonnay.

    ABOUT TIMO MAYER

German-born, enigmatic winemaker Timo Mayer is one of the great characters of the Yarra Valley. The words bombastic, charismatic and wild are as much applicable to the man as his wines. From his close-planted Yarra Valley vineyard, evocatively named 'Bloody Hill', Timo carves out some astounding wines made with low levels of new oak and minimal additions. The signature of Timo's winemaking style is his penchant for whole-bunch ferment. His wines have an ethereal quality, firm tannins and impeccable structure. These are compelling and extremely limited wines that tell a unique story of the Yarra Valley.
