The Uccelliera Rosso di Montalcino 2023 is a 100% Sangiovese wine from Tuscany, crafted by estate owner Andrea Cortonesi in Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Valued for its early approachability and Brunello-like pedigree, it offers a bright, savory flavor profile and excellent aging potential.
Description
Grown on mineral-rich clay, sand, and stony marl soils on the south-eastern side of Montalcino. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, blending both dedicated Rosso di Montalcino grapes and fruit declassified from the estate's Brunello vineyards. Aged for a period in large Slavonian oak and French barriques. Yields for 2023 were lower than average due to a spring mildew outbreak, which resulted in a vintage characterized by lower alcohol levels and outstanding, vibrant freshness.
