    Description

Tight, bright and spritely, this light-bodied and well-balanced Mediterranean white blend offers vibrant aromas of citrus fruits, such as lemon and grapefruit, along with hints of white flowers and a subtle minerality. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with notes of bitter lime, tangerine, lemon verbena, green melon and a lively acidity that balances the fruit flavors. Quite lean and bone dry, finishing with a saline twist.

Atlantis is a blend of 90% Assyrtiko, with 5% Athiri and 5% Aidani, all from relatively "young" 60-year-old Santorini vines cultivated in the traditional old Santorini style, utilizing low, circular basket shapes to shield them from the island's harsh winds and scorching sun. The grapes are farmed organically, harvested by hand, then fermented with indigenous yeasts for three weeks cool in stainless steel vats, then aged five months, also in stainless. Assyrtiko is the main Greek grape that adds sharp acidity and clean mineral flavors, Athiri is an indigenous white grape that brings bright lemon fruit notes and Aidani is a fragrant white grape that adds soft floral and tropical hints.

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Argyros Estates

Established in 1903, Estate Argyros, is currently the largest private owner of vineyards in Santorini. Argyros Estate is highly regarded for vinsanto and dry white both made from Assyrtiko. Mattaios Argyros, and his late father Yiannis, are considered to be both the best sweet winemakers and the best white winemakers in Greece.

Based in Episkopi Santorini, they own 42ha of vineyards with ungrafted -original rootstock - phylloxera safe vines, averaging 70 years old, including some of the oldest on the island at over 200 years old. The vast majority of their vineyards are trained in the famous Basket shape (Kouloura) and even when given a choice, Argyros use this method, which they believe offers greater control over canopy, allowing for finer balance leading to better quality fruit. This use of Kouloura is the reason for the Estates incredibly low yields that when matched with state-of-the-art winemaking based on a philosophy of minimal intervention, produce a style that is clean, precise and razor sharp. These are truly wines of finesse and poise that benchmark the greatness that is emerging from Santorini.
