90pts Halliday Wine Companion "Another new addition to the Dhillon label, the back label stating merlot’s friends are malbec, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The friends are talking, as this is in sync and rather savoury, even if full of plums, sour cherries/pomegranate and currants, plus woodsmoke, fresh herbs, joss sticks and some meaty reduction. Fuller bodied, with textural, gritty tannins and bright acidity throughout." - April 2025

"This is a new wine for us and comes from the excellent Glenhope vineyard in the northern Macedon Ranges at 425 meters above sea level on granite soil. Here the sunshine is stronger than at Bindi and the vines can fully ripen later ripening varieties. This delicious blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon is medium weight and harmonious. It has a captivating fragrance and berry purity that is impressive. The fruit from Glenhope retains brightness and energy while achieving ripeness (this wine is 13.5%) and gives the possibility to make characterful, flavoursome wine that isn’t heavy in any way but rather present, smooth and delicious. The resolved and smooth tannins carry the fruit for a long finish. This wine will improve for a further six years and hold for a decade beyond." - Bindi Wines

    ABOUT THIS BRAND

    Bindi Wines

Magic in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria

BINDI, 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, is not just a boutique vineyard. It’s actually a 170-hectare (ha) property of which 7ha are planted to vines—just pinot noir and chardonnay. Most of it is bushland, a section is reserved for important indigenous grasslands such as kangaroo grass, and 15ha are dedicated to a managed plantation of eucalypts (sugar gums) for high-grade furniture timber.

Bindi Wines fall under that category of “wines I would rather keep than sell.” The chardonnays are extraordinarily fine, precise, intense and beautiful, while the pinot noirs are a sensational group. The quality is very even, the style of the wines stunningly elegant, seamless and charming, but also profound. Charming pinot noir of depth is not that easy to find.
